This Page is for a Better understanding of ID and AR situations

Please understand that our Engineers take Safety very Seriously. As a good practice, the first thing we will do when on site, we will always perform a Tightness Test. Should the test fail, we will immediately inform you (The Occupant) of this. And try to understand why it failed. Because this can be for a number of things. If a thorough investigation is required we will either offer our services or recommend you another Gas Safe Engineer if you do not wish to trade with us on this occasion.

However, we will follow the appropriate Gas Safe Procedure. And we have provided a better understanding for you (The Client/Occupant) should this ever happen. Please take some time to read them and understand them. We do not Joke with safety, we do not play around with Gas and we take this matter very seriously.

Understanding an ID Situation

An immediately dangerous installation is one which, if operated or left connected to a gas supply, is considered to be an immediate danger to life or property.

The installation will be disconnected, with your (The Occupant) permission, and must not be used until the necessary work has been carried out to repair the defect(s).

If you continue to use an immediately dangerous installation you could be putting you or your family's lives in danger.

For Natural Gas Installation, if you refuse toe Gas Engineer permission to disconnect the installation or an individual appliance, they will report the situation to the Gas Emergency Service Provider (ESP). The ESP has legal powers to demand entry to make the situation safe or may disconnect the gas supply to the property. The ESP does not have the same legal powers with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) installations

Understanding AR Situations

An at Risk installation is where one or more recognized faults are present which could constitute a danger to life or property without further faults developing.

With your permission (The Occupant), the installation will be turned off and should not be used again until the fault has been repaired. However, in a limited number of cases, turning off the gas supply will not remove, or reduce the risk. In such circumstances, you will be issued with a warning notice and advised whom top contact for further investigation.
